Johnny Tapia arrested, booked

Five-time world champion boxer Johnny Tapia was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center Monday morning after violating the terms of his parole and probation over the weekend.
Corrections department spokeswoman Tia Bland says that Tapia was arrested in Albuquerque after traveling to Red River over the Fourth of July weekend.
Bland says that Tapia also entered a bar while in Red River and got into a verbal confrontation.
She says traveling to Red River without permission and entering any sort of liquor establishment are both violations of Tapia's parole and probation.
Tapia was taken into custody Monday morning by corrections department probation and parole officers.
Tapia was placed on a year of parole in May by the state parole board after a judge determined that he had violated the terms of his release.
Tapia's most recent legal woes began in 2008 when police discovered Tapia apparently suffering from an overdose in an Albuquerque motel.
He was sentenced to serve time at an in-patient drug treatment facility. Upon release, though, he tested positive for cocaine use.
