A 28-year-old man is jailed after deputies say he struck and killed a pedestrian who was walking in southwest Albuquerque early Saturday morning. Deputies say alcohol was a factor.

Bernalillo County Sheriff's Deputies say Chris Colomo was heading northbound on Sunset from the Allsup's at Arenal and Isleta with three passengers when he struck a Toyota Camry while trying to pass the car as it turned into a driveway.

After Colmo's Dodge truck struck the Toyota, it then struck 43-year-old Kimberly Jaramillo-McAfee, who was walking down the road.

Jaramillo-McAffee was thrown from the scene and died.

Deputies say that Colomo then ran from the truck and fled the scene.

Deputies interviewed witnesses and found Colomo approximately four hours after the incident.

The two people inside the Toyota were not injured, deputies said.

Investigators believe that alcohol was a factor in the accident.

Colomo is charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash, tampering with evidence and vehicular homicide.
