Albuquerque City Council Passes Anti-Revving Bill
The Albuquerque City Council passed a controversial ban on engine revving Monday night.
The city-wide ban mainly addresses loud motorcycle revving Downtownwhich had many residents complaining, according to APD Chief Ray Schultz.
Bikers say they rev their engines to alert drivers of their presence.
Many who showed up to oppose the revving measure abruptly left the chamber after the ban was passed.
The ordinance could allow officers to issue citations for excessive revving.
Opponents say loud pipes save lives. Helmets also save lives. Is a mandatory helmet law coming for New Mexico?
